We’re delighted to share that Workato has been named a Visionary in the inaugural Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies (BOAT). We believe our inclusion in the first report outlining “a new class of technology that is driving a consolidated business orchestration and automation platform” (Gartner, 2025) highlights the timeliness and versatility of the Workato One platform.
Like Gartner, we believe this new category is transforming the integration and automation landscape, unifying end-to-end process automation in a way that was not previously possible. The companies that use Workato One and other BOATs are aiming for pervasive process automation or what Gartner calls “hyperautomation”—the strategic effort to automate as many business tasks and workflows as possible.
These companies are early adopters in what will one day be the standard approach to integration and automation, as Gartner predicts that BOAT will reach mainstream adoption in fewer than five years.
“By 2030, 70% of enterprises will pivot to a consolidated automation platform that orchestrates business processes, AI agents, bots, APIs and human actions, up from 5% today.” — Gartner 2025 Magic Quadrant for BOAT
About Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies
BOAT expands automation capabilities into what used to be integration territory, creating powerful unified systems that combine business process automation (BPA), robotic process automation (RPA), intelligent document processing (IDP), low-code app development, and AI into a single orchestration environment.
In the past, iPaaS vendors focused on integration use cases connecting systems and data, while BPA and RPA vendors focused on automation. BOAT represents the automation side’s move toward integration, blurring the lines between categories and placing Workato in an elite group of versatile vendors.

About the Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for BOAT
A Gartner Magic Quadrant is a culmination of research in a specific market, giving you a wide-angle view of the relative positions of the market’s competitors. By applying a graphical treatment and a uniform set of evaluation criteria, a Magic Quadrant helps you quickly ascertain how well technology providers are executing their stated visions and how well they are performing against Gartner’s market view.
About Workato One
Workato One is an agentic stack designed to be the foundation of your agentic enterprise. We believe that, to unlock the synergy between automation and integration, your company needs robust architecture that reimagines the tech stack without the traditional silos. Workato One brings your AI, data, apps, and systems together, bundling the 4 things we see as a key capabilities into a single platform:
- Enterprise orchestration: Connect agents to your data, apps and systems and seamlessly coordinate how they all work together with existing workflows to get the job done.
- Enterprise context: Allow agents to apply reasoning and intent in the specific context of your business.
- Enterprise skills: Empower AI agents (“Genies”) to execute deterministic, repeatable, and verifiable actions across enterprise applications.
- Enterprise trust: Ensure security, governance, and reliability for your agentic initiatives.
Here’s how automation approaches like RPA and BPM, as well as integration essentials like iPaaS and API management (APIM), fit into the Workato One architecture. As you can see, they’re all represented.
We believe that Workato’s unified platform is a strength, as we find it minimizes migration effort, gives users rapid access to new features, and accelerates time to value while reducing operational overhead. Workato comes at our agentic products from an iPaaS perspective, for strong connectivity and reusability.
Since our BOAT submission, we launched Workato Enterprise MCP which enables our customers’ apps and systems with trusted MCP servers, so agents can safely take real actions. In just a few clicks AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Cursor can be given trusted access, enterprise context, and safe actions across 12,000+ apps with built-in governance. Learn more about Workato Enterprise MCP.
Workato’s roadmap expands the capabilities of Workato One. In the next year, users will have access to:
- Workato AIRO, enabling declarative-style GenAI driven development
- Enterprise Skills Marketplace with reusable verified AI skills
- Workato Xchange as a centralized hub for curated assets, orchestrations and AI agents
Our customers are already achieving visionary things with Workato in their work. Read how companies like Atlassian and Epicor are implementing hyperautomation with Workato One.
BOAT vs. an Enterprise Orchestration Platform
The rise of BOAT is loosely synchronous with the convergence of iPaaS into Enterprise Orchestration Platforms (EOPs), and you’ll see many vendors on both the Magic Quadrant for iPaaS and BOAT.
Workato, however, is the only vendor that is both a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for iPaaS, as well as a Visionary in the Magic Quadrant for BOAT. We believe that this is a testament to the composability of our platform, as well as our visionary approach to the convergence of automation and integration.
