Retry failed employee provisioning daily

Recipe ToolsMarketing

What it does

Every day at 2 AM, this automation searches the Employees lookup table for records that failed to provision. For each failed record, it calls the employee provisioning function to retry, and notifies the HR team if the job itself encounters an error.

Who it's for

HR teams who need failed employee provisioning attempts retried automatically without manual intervention.

How teams use this

Recover from temporary lookup table gaps

When employee data is incomplete during initial provisioning, this automation retries the next day after missing information is added to the lookup table. The same records are processed without manual resubmission.

Reduce manual provisioning backlog

HR staff no longer need to manually identify and reprocess failed employee records. The daily job finds them automatically and retries, freeing time for other onboarding tasks.

Escalate to IT when retries fail

Add a condition to check if an employee record fails twice, then create an IT ticket instead of retrying again. This ensures persistent provisioning issues reach the right team for investigation.

How it works

  1. Run daily at 2 AM. This automation starts every day at 2 AM to check for employee records that need provisioning retry.
  2. Search for failed employee records. Search the Employees lookup table for any records marked as failed so they can be retried in this batch.
  3. Retry provisioning for each record. For each failed employee record found, call the employee provisioning function to attempt setup again with current data.
  4. Alert HR team on job failure. If the daily job itself encounters an error, send an email to the HR team so they can investigate and restart provisioning manually if needed.
