AI agents are racing into the enterprise, but trust isn\u2019t keeping pace.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s the headline from new research conducted by Harvard Business Review<\/em>, in partnership with Workato and AWS. And the findings confirm what many CIOs and CTOs feel every day: organizations are excited about agentic AI, but few believe their foundations are mature enough to let AI agents operate at the core of their business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A recent Fortune<\/em> analysis<\/a> of the study underscores the urgency: only 6% of companies fully trust AI agents to autonomously run core business processes<\/strong>, yet 86% plan to increase their investment in agentic AI over the next two years<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This widening gap between ambition and readiness is the defining challenge of enterprise AI adoption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it\u2019s exactly where enterprise orchestration and the Enterprise MCP<\/a> come in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI Agents Are Coming Fast\u2014But Core Systems Aren\u2019t Ready<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The study shows explosive interest in agentic AI, but deep hesitation around letting these agents act without supervision:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. 43% trust AI only for limited or routine tasks<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. 39% restrict AI agents to supervised or noncore processes<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Only 20% believe their infrastructure is ready<\/strong>, and just 15% feel their data and systems are prepared<\/strong> for agentic AI at scale<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    A readiness index in the report shows that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. 27% of organizations qualify as leaders<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. 50% as followers<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. 24% as laggards<\/strong>\u2014not yet structurally prepared for agentic AI integration<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Leaders aren\u2019t succeeding by experimenting with more agents\u2014they\u2019re succeeding because they\u2019re investing in the foundation that makes agents viable, safe, and predictable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The Trust Gap Is an Orchestration Problem<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Executives were clear about what\u2019s holding AI agents back:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      1. 31% cite cybersecurity and privacy concerns<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. 23% cite data output quality<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. 22% cite unready business processes<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. 22% cite limitations in technology infrastructure<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        These aren\u2019t \u201cAI\u201d problems. They\u2019re enterprise architecture<\/a> problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        The study points to a solution many organizations are already pursuing:<\/p>\n\n\n

        More than 74% of organizations are working on or planning to implement enterprise orchestration<\/a><\/strong> to prepare for agentic AI\u2014because orchestration provides the connective tissue agents need to safely operate across systems, data, and workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
