{"id":2379,"date":"2026-05-21T00:46:31","date_gmt":"2026-05-21T04:46:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog2wrkdev.wpenginepowered.com\/why-you-need-the-new-automation-mindset\/"},"modified":"2026-09-30T08:26:30","modified_gmt":"2026-09-30T12:26:30","slug":"why-you-need-the-new-automation-mindset","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog2workato.wpengine.com\/why-you-need-the-new-automation-mindset\/","title":{"rendered":"The New Automation Mindset: Rethinking Enterprise Automation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">McKinsey &amp; Company recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/capabilities\/strategy-and-corporate-finance\/our-insights\/actions-the-best-ceos-are-taking-in-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">surveyed the top-performing CEOs<\/a> to understand how they\u2019re responding to the current technological, economic, and geopolitical disruptions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps unsurprisingly, they found that nearly half (45%) of the respondents indicated \u201cautomating work\u201d as one of their priorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This begs the question: Which flavors of \u201cautomation\u201d are these CEOs referring to? It\u2019s likely some combination of automating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>End-to-end business processes that involve humans and multiple applications, such as ERP, CRM, SCM, and HCM, via integration and automation technologies, like iPaaS, BPA, and RPA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Decision-making through the use of AI technologies (machine learning, natural language processing, image recognition, etc.)&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By turning to these automations, CEOs are aiming to improve efficiency, increase productivity, and reduce costs (which is everybody\u2019s goal these days). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moreover, as these are top-performing CEOs, they likely also expect automation to help them accelerate their innovation cycles, increase their organization\u2019s business agility, and provide more accurate business observability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Putting automation technologies to work and realizing their full spectrum of benefits, however, isn\u2019t so simple, as it requires a strategic, holistic, and pervasive approach to automation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m glad to report that there is a soon-to-be-released book that can help you adopt such an approach: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.workato.com\/automation-mindset-book?ref=connector\">\u201cThe New Automation Mindset\u201d<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog2workato.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Workato-20-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog2workato.wpengine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Workato-20-2.png\" alt=\"Putting automation technologies to work and realizing their full spectrum of benefits, however, isn\u2019t so simple, as it requires a strategic, holistic, and pervasive approach to automation.\u00a0\" class=\"wp-image-43783\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What the New Automation Mindset Means<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mindset, as laid out by Vijay Tella, Workato\u2019s CEO and Co-Founder, Scott Brinker, VP Platform Ecosystem at Hubspot, and yours truly, puts processes, growth, and scale at the very core of the business strategy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We make the case that this requires thinking of business processes in end-to-end terms, embracing change, and democratizing the use of technology so that a larger number of people can proactively contribute to the organization\u2019s success through automation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Pillars of the New Automation Mindset<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Embracing \u201cThe New Automation Mindset\u201d implies rethinking the technology platforms and the organizational setup that\u2019s meant to enable automation.
